Jason James Skinner

Skinner began to pursue the art of photography as a career after completing two bachelors degrees at the prestigious Boston University in 2006. Since moving to Las Vegas in 2007, Skinner has photographed performing artists from many of the premier productions on the Las Vegas Strip and his work has been featured in many Las Vegas publications. Skinner is one of the up-and-coming and talented resident artists of Las Vegas whose work is being recognized as some of the best dance photography of today. Skinner is currently the principal photographer for the Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theater.

Skinner’s photography began as a visual journal cataloging his ever-changing perspectives and grew into a passion for photographic images. Having little background or expertise in dance, he approaches it from a fresh viewpoint with the fascination of an outsider. Skinner seeks ways of capturing the emotional essence of dance beyond traditional dance vocabulary. In recent works, Skinner has used long-exposure techniques to contrast movement and stillness that capture haunting abstract images.
